چکیده

A game of incomplete information or a Bayesian game is a game in which players do not have full information about each others payoffs. In a strategic situation where a player’s payoff depends on what actions his rivals will take, this poses a problem because a player does not know which game is being played. There are several reasons why players may not have full information about each others’payoffs. In other words, the term Bayesian games include a wide variety of incomplete information situations. Two scenarios that are most common in applications are described below.

Econ 618: Topic 10 Introduction to Global Games

The term ”global games” was introduced by Carlson and Van Damme in their classic 1993 Econometrica paper to describe a type of Bayesian game. In this type of game, the players’ payoffs for a given strategy profile also depends on the realization of a fundamental ”state of the economy”, which is unobserved. The fundamental has a prior distribution which is common knowledge. At the start of the pl...

Econ 618: Topic 5 Correlated Equilibrium, Relationship to the set of MSNE

MSNE assumes players use a random device privately and independently, that tells them which strategy to choose for any given play. The Bayesian environment, we have discussed so far assumes that signals are random, private and independent. The question that we address here is what happens if the signals are random but public (not private) and not independent across the agents and further, the a...

Partial exposure in large games

In this work we introduce the notion of partial exposure, in which the players of a simultaneous-move Bayesian game are exposed to the realized types and chosen actions of a subset of the other players. We show that in any large simultaneous-move game, each player has very little regret even after being partially exposed to other players. If players are given the opportunity to be exposed to ot...

Representing and Reasoning with Large Games

In the last decade, there has been much research at the interface of computer science and game theory. One important class of problems at this interface is the computation of solution concepts (such as Nash equilibrium or correlated equilibrium) of a finite game. In order to take advantage of the highly-structured utility functions in games of practical interest, it is important to design compa...
